Travel information

The Physikum of the University of Erlangen is located in the southern campus - called the "Südgelände der Universität". The adress of our institute is Staudtstr. 7, 91058 Erlangen. Our offices are on the floor 02 (secretary!) of building B2. For a printable version of our travel information and a map please download travel information with map as pdf. By plane

The closest airport is the airport of Nürnberg. From here you can ...

• take a taxi. It takes about 30 minutes to get here (charges of about 25,- / 30,- Euro).
• go by bus. Take the bus to "Thon" (bus line 32). Change in "Thon" to the bus to "Erlangen Hugenottenplatz" (bus line 30 or 30 E). Exit at "Erlangen Süd". From here you have to walk to our institute (it should require about 20 min.). The bus station "Erlangen Süd" is located south of the institute (see our map in pdf format). You will have to walk up the Egerlandstraße and then up the Erwin-Rommel-Straße. On the right side of the Erwin-Rommel-Straße near the bus station "Sebaldussiedlung", sorrounded by trees, you will find the biology and physics institutes.
  To go by bus takes up to 60 minutes. You will have buy a ticket for 4 zones (charges of about 3,00 / 3,50 Euro).

By train

Exit at railway station "Erlangen". There is a bus connection to the "Südgelände". Go by bus with line 287 or 293. Exit "Sebaldussiedlung". This station is just in front of the biology and physics institutes in the Erwin-Rommel-Straße (see our map in pdf format). From here you need only 3 minutes to reach our institute.

Of course, you can also take a taxi from the railway station to the Südgelände, which costs about 9,00 / 11,- Euro.

To find a suitable train connection you can use the www-page of the Deutsche Bahn AG.

By car

There are two highways around Erlangen - A3 (Würzburg-München), A73 (Nürnberg - Bamberg). The access is described below:

• Highway A3: Leave the highway at "Erlangen-Tennenlohe" in direction Erlangen (Bundesstraße B4). Exit B4 at "Gräfenberg / Universität-Südgelände" and follow the signs. Keep straight on, pass Cauer-Str. and Erwin-Rommel-Straße. Turn left into the Staudtstraße at the traffic light (sign: "Universität Physik / Biologie"). Turn off at the next intersection. Now the parking garage is in front of you and our institute is on your right side.
• Highway A73: Leave the highway at "Erlangen-Bruck". Turn right in direction Gräfenberg (Bundesstraße B4). Exit B4 at "Gräfenberg / Universität-Südgelände" and follow the signs. Keep straight on, pass Cauer-Str. and Erwin-Rommel-Str.. Turn left into the Staudtstr. at the traffic light (sign: "Universität Physik / Biologie"). Turn off at the next intersection. Now the parking garage is in front of you and our institute is on your right side.
